How to Keep Your Skin Cancer-Free This Summer

Skin Cancer Treatment Nashua NH | How to Keep Your Skin Cancer-Free This SummerWith summer in full swing, you most likely have more than a few plans to spend your spare time outside. And although a little vitamin D is good for your health, skin, and soul, too much vitamin D can cause premature signs of aging and, worse, skin cancer. But keep your skin cancer-free this Summer As one of the things that we treat patients for here at Skin & Laser Surgery Center, skin cancer is certainly nothing to mess with. So, what can you do this summer to keep your skin safe and protected? Let’s take a closer look.

Wear Sunscreen

Other than staying completely out of the sun, one of the best things you can do for your skin is to wear sunscreen every day— no matter how much or how little time you plan on spending outside. Sunscreen acts as a protective layer against the sun and is one of the best ways to keep you protected.

Perform a Self Check

One of the best ways for patients to catch skin cancer in its early stages is to perform regular self-checks. So, what does that mean exactly? Every few weeks or every month when you are in the shower, examine your skin and run your hands over it. Do you notice any new freckles or moles? Have any of your moles darkened? Have any of them changed sizes or texture? If so, keep a close eye on them or schedule an appointment with our office.

Schedule an Appointment

Can you remember the last time you had a dermatologist appointment? If it has been ages since you have seen one of our dermatologists, contact our office for a skin check. During this appointment, we will look at all of the moles and freckles on your body to see if we spot any abnormalities.

Taking good care of your skin doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does require a bit of work on your part. If you would like to learn more about skin cancer prevention or if you would like to schedule an appointment with us, call our Revere office today at (617) 381-1717.
