Laser Treatments

If your dog bite is deep or if your scar is exceptionally large, then a laser treatment may be the best option to go with. By using one of our sophisticated laser treatments, we will be able to target the deepest layers of these skin. Once the skin is targeted, it will be heated up. After the heating process is done, your skin will work to naturally repair itself— creating the new skin in the process. Typically, our doctors will have to administer multiple laser treatments to give you optimal results.

Topical Treatments

There are a variety of over-the-counter topical ointments that can be used to get rid of mild scarring. If you have a small scar caused by a dog bite, try using topical ointments like Neosporin. By keeping the skin hydrated, topical treatments can sometimes reduce the likelihood of deep scarring.

Chemical Peels

After your scar has healed for a reasonable amount of time, you may be a good candidate for a chemical peel. A chemical peel works similarly to laser treatments in that it targets the top few layers of your skin and causes them to peel off. Once your skin has peeled off, your skin will regenerate itself and create newer skin— helping to get rid of the scarring in the process. Typically, patients will have to undergo several chemical peels until they notice real results.
