At- Home Vs. In-Office Glycolic Peels

Glycolic Peels by professionals?Whether you’re in your twenties or sixties, a glycolic peel is a great way to target fine lines and wrinkles, get rid of acne scars, and help give your skin a more youthful glow. Historically, glycolic peels have been done in our Skin & Laser Surgery Center office with the help of one of our medical estheticians. However, skincare lines like L’Oreal have created small pads that contain a little bit of glycolic acid so you can do them from home. So, what is the difference between these two products and which one is more beneficial? Read on to learn more.

Glycolic Peel At-Home vs. In Office

Results

The best thing about getting a glycolic chemical peel from our Skin & Laser Surgery Center office is that you will get real results in just a day or two. Because we use a high dose of glycolic acid in our peels, our patients will notice the top few layers of their skin sloughing off in just a few days— leaving them with visibly smoother and glowing skin.

When it comes to the at-home version, they are typically designed in 30-day increments, which means that it takes a full thirty-day treatment session for you to see the results. After about a week of using the pads, however, you should start to see some improvement of your skin, and you will continue to see improvement until you reach that 30-day mark.

Can I Afford Glycolic Peels?

The main benefit of the at-home glycolic pads is that they are a lot cheaper than the in-office kind. Costing anywhere from $20-$150 per jar of pads, if you are on a budget, then the at-home version may be the way to go.
