Summertime Skin Care Tips to Get Rid of Acne

Summertime Skin Care tips

Summertime skin care tips , we may recommend that you try facial products, lather up with a lot of sunscreen every two hours

Now that your fantasies of warmer weather are a reality, you can break out your bikini or swimsuit and head to the beach or the pool and finally relax in the sun. But even though summertime brings a lot of good changes (like constant sunshine), it can also bring with it some changes to your skin— especially if you have acne. To help you stay on top of your acne, we always encourage our patients to switch up their skin care with each changing season. So, now that it’s summer, what should you do?

Watch the Sweat

Sweat is your body’s natural way of getting rid of toxins and regulating your body temperature, but too much sweat can also cause some severe acne breakouts. If you plan on exercising a bit outside this summer, then make sure that you either shower, wash your face, or use some facial cleansing towelettes after to get rid of any germs or bacteria.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Luckily, here in Massachusetts, we get more humidity than anything so you won’t have to worry about your skin drying out too much, but if you’re spending more time inland, then you may notice that your skin is feeling a little dry around your nose and mouth. When your skin gets too dry, it can cause your oil production to kick into overdrive which can lead to an acne breakout. To prevent this from happening, make sure that you keep your skin consistently hydrated with a facial moisturizer or cleanser.

Watch the Products

In addition to getting acne treatments like laser done at our office, we may recommend that you try facial products that contain ingredients like retinol in them.

Although retinol and other ingredients are great at fighting off acne, they can also make your skin more sensitive to sun damage. If you are taking these medications, be really careful when you’re outside. For instance, lather up with a lot of sunscreen every two hours and make sure that you wear a hat.

Taking good care of your skin starts with combating your acne. If you want to learn more about summertime acne tips or if you want to schedule your next laser treatment, contact our Chelmsford office at (978) 453-5559.
