tattoo removal | BostonIs that tattoo that you got in your late teen and twenties constantly taunting you and reminding you of the poor decision you made? Or is that once “awesome looking” tattoo now stretched out, wrinkled, and distorted due to your skin’s natural aging process? If you have a tattoo that simply isn’t you anymore, then it’s time for you to consider getting laser tattoo removal from Skin & Laser Surgery Center. Read on to learn more.

How is it done?
Here at Skin & Laser Surgery Center we offer our patients two different laser options in order to get their tattoo removed including: Nd:YAG and Alexandrite lasers.

  • Nd: YAG Lasers: This FDA approved laser is made up of a crystal that is used in solid-state lasers which works to target the ink particles and break them up into smaller pieces which are then naturally absorbed by your body.
  • Alexandrite Lasers: This type of laser produces a type of red light in the infrared spectrum and is able to produce high intensity laser beams in very short and succinct pulses.

Is it effective?
Depending on your skin type, the colors of your tattoo, and the size of your tattoo will help indicate just how effective the removal process will be. For instance, both black and blue ink are easily absorbed by the laser, whereas green ink isn’t. And depending on how well your skin tone takes the laser, it may take more treatments than others.
