Leg Vein Removal Solution for Spider Veins and Varicose Veins
At the Skin and Laser Surgery Center of New England, patients in the communities of Nashua, Revere, and Chelmsford are invited to learn about effective treatment options for patients who have spider veins and varicose veins. We offer two methodologies including traditional sclerotherapy and laser vein treatment.
- Traditional sclerotherapy – With traditional sclerotherapy, an injection of a sclerosing gel is administered directly into the problematic veins. This injection will close up the blood vessel and allow blood to flow into healthier vessels in the legs. The damaged vessel is then absorbed by the body and eliminated permanently. While this treatment does require injections, it continues to be one of the most effective methods of eliminating varicose and spider veins from the legs.
- Laser vein treatment – Another treatment option available is that of laser vein treatment. Using laser light, our doctors can penetrate the skin and target veins using EVLT, or “endovenous laser treatment.” This method passes a laser fiber through a catheter that leads directly into the problematic vein. Laser light is then administered to treat the veins just underneath the skin’s surface. This treatment has certain benefits to consider, including fewer side effects, reduced treatment and recovery time, and minimal downtime for healing.
Which one is right for me?
In most situations, our doctors will utilizes sclerotherapy first, as this is the most reliable treatment option for problematic veins. However, patients can still request laser treatment as an option. Our professionals take the time to educate patients on the pros and cons of each treatment so they can make a knowledgeable decision regarding their care.
